I took swimming lessons in the pond, before the town pool was built.

Very fond memories of Dows pond - helped give swimming there - remember the time my sister and I went out to check out the pond before it was open for the season and Bonnie decided to run down the wharf " the wharf was out of the water and turned upside down" when she did this she stepped of a spike- boy did we have a hard time getting her foot off it and Mr. Dow came to our aid- such a sweet man he gave us a ride home- a lot of the kids from Mapleton spend their summers there- there were two ponds one by the road and one we swam in- bloodsuckers and fish also- swim meets- family gatherings was a great place
