This is the old James House on the James Rd. I owned this house and lived here for several years in the late 70's and loved it. It was a great house. The big barn is gone. Someone had it torn down after I left, but the apple trees and the raspberry bushes are still there. It is a great spot with gorgeous views of Quoggy Jo, Haystack and on a clear day, you can see Katahdin.
Even though I only lived in this house a few years, it had a tremendous impact on my life and I loved my time there and the house not to mention the barn. I understood that this house was built in the mid to late 1800's and was the original James homestead. The dairy farmer down the road used to store his hay in our barn when we lived there. I would love to learn more about this place from some of the other owners. I think it stayed in the James family until the 70's when a professor from UMPI bought it. We bought it from him. I am under the impression that someone in the James family then purchased it back. Hope to see more posts about this cool place.
