this is my grandparents farm!!!gary and prudence libby,1641 madardis road! this farm was owned by my great grandfather Donald flewelling and his wife helen greenlaw, they lived here in the early 1950's,with their children prudence and ed.donald kept potatoes in that barn, and was a prominent and active citizen of masardis before his death in 1957.donald purchased this home from louis mcminn, and louis had purchased it from samuel fraser,of to whom he was related thru marriage.gary and prudence farmed cattle here,as well as raising their five children;gordon, marianne, laura, scott, and peggy.tragically the house and barn burnt on Christmas day in 1975,they were able to save some cattle housed in the barn.to my knowledge, this is the only remaining picture of this farm,a quest I've been on since i was told childhood stories of life on the farm.to say im ecstatic is an understatement!

So happy to see this photo. .and, in good detail, including the whole property . Thanks for sharing your comments and bit of history about the farm . I can recall your mom and dad calling us...Shocked to hear the news..
Do you remember how they raised the cattle ??? My husband and Gary were in on a deal together to see if they could take care of them, and make a little money later. Amazing to have this photo ! The farm of my childhood has not burned but everything was torn down and no resemblance to my beloved home. Treasure this, as I know you will....Great memories of being there ..S.

my cousin gordan gave me a snowmobile ride in that field.i remember that huge barn on the end.

sorry guys your confusing me with my mother haha,my grandparents are prudence n gary libby.but ive always heard of shirley maki 😊 i know this site is kinda sad in a way,you go by seeing all these beautiful barns and houses that our forefathers cleared land for,and worked hard to build, and alot of them are gone from sheer lack of upkeep, pretty sad in my book.
