THIS WAS MY FAMILY'S FARM WHICH WAS KNOWN AS PARMENTER FARM OF CHINA. MAINE.MY GRANDFATHER AND HIS BROTHERS ALONG WITH THE REST OF HIS FAMILY. RAN THIS FARM FOR MANY YEARS. I PERSONALY HAVE MANY GREAT MEMORIES OF GROWING UP. AND WORKING HERE MISS THIS PLACE VERY MUCH.ONLY BUILDING STILL STANDING IS THE ONE CLOSEST TO THE ROAD EVERTHING ELSE IS GONE DESTROYED BY FIRES OVER THE YEARS. THE OLD FARM HOUSE WAS THE LAST TO GO.

Grrrr8 find !

Ahhh so much to say! ❤️

I REMEMBER A LOT OF GOOD TIMES ON THIS FARM AS WELL. WHEN WE WERE GROWING UP WE LIVED NEXT DOOR IN THE LITTLE HOUSE ON THE LEFT OF THIS PICTURE. WE WERE ALWAYS GOOD FRIENDS AND LOVED TO GO AND SEE GRAMMY & GRAMPA PARMENTER, UNCLE BILL, UNCLE DAVID, AND FRED. IN THE SUMMER WE USED TO HELP DO THE HAYING WITH FREDA , MY BROTHER PAUL, AND MANY OTHERS. I WISH THIS FARM WAS STILL HERE TODAY CAUSE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO SEE THE PARMENTER FAMILY KEEP THE FARM GOING. IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL FARM AND GREAT VIEW OF CHINA LAKE.

I worked for them haying. I also fell from a ladder rung breaking on me putting hay in the barn.

I worked for David Parmenter on this farm in the nineties. Many good memories as well

44 (far left) and 57 (center) Pleasant View Ridge Road, China, ME. Starting at the left, the small cape-style home was still there in 2011, with a small garage built to the right of the home. between 2011 and 2020 this home was either torn down or heavily modified, as the new home there resembles a much more ranch-style home. The field to its right now has a home with a small garage of its own (48 Pleasant View Ridge), also in a ranch style.

The large farm at center, known as the Parmenter Farm per Frederick Hotham above, is almost entirely gone. According to Frederick most of these buildings burned. The only building visible still standing is the gambrel-shaped barn near the road, but it has taken heavy damage in recent wind storms. I believe all other buildings are gone, and the field to the left of the property now has a large two story apartment building (45 Pleasant View Ridge Road).
