Sail Inn Restaurant Prospect, ME
Owned and operated by Eddie and Vera Dyer until the State took it by eminent domain when the new Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Observatory was opened in 2006.
Sail in located on US Route 1 adjacent to Fort Knox and the Waldo-Hancock Bridge. The building was taken by Maine DOT for use as a storage area for equipment when building the new Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Observatory, replacing the original 1930s bridge which had deteriorated to the point of no longer being repairable. After construction, the building was demolished and retained by Maine DOT.
