This store was up for sale in the early 1980s for about $60k. My wife and I looked at it but decided to look in Leelenau and Benzie counties. I recall that it was operated by an older couple who apparently were retiring. When I went in to look things over, there were a few others right behind me. When the proprietor saw this, he yelled to his wife through a gravity heat grate to come down, so I presume that they lived upstairs. It did sell but it closed permanently sometime in the 1990s. It was built around WW1.
