This was my Grandpa and Grandmother's farm. There was a huge cattle barn with 2 hay mows and storage on the floor for a winter supply of baled straw. Horses had their own barn, Pigs had their own sty, sheep had a building just for them - adjacent to the chicken coop. A huge orchard provided many fruits for canning. Additionally, there was a huge tool shed that also had a mow even tho it wasn't used for hay. There were never any tools or implements in the open. By the house was a small milk house that only held two milk cans. In the 1950's a cement block milk house was built and it held four cans. Grandpa was very proud of what he had. During the depression they had newspaper under the carpeting in the living room to keep out the cold winter drafts. A wood stove heated the whole house. Even though they lived there for 60 years there was never plumbing of any kind; although, there was hand pump in the kitchen for water. Two more were just outside by the milk house and at the barn. He plowed with horses until the 1950's and then used tractors. He finally had to give up his horses in the early 1960's and it was one of the worst days of his life.
Sadly, today the only thing remaining is the cement block milk house near the road and the huge rock in the circle. Some of the barns burned and a month ago the house was bull dozed down. Thank you for taking this picture so I could have it for my memories.
