This was our farm on Metcalf Road. Note the east-facing side of the house where the brick chipped off. My father installed a humidifier. During the winter, the westerly winds pushed the moisture to the east side of the house, where the brick absorbed it. The moisture froze in the winter and crumbled the brick! The house was built about 1911 by a Metcalf, hence the name of the road. We lived there from about 1962-1974.....It looks like this photo was taken before the Lake Huron-Flint waterline was put through the farm.....

Correction to the above: This photo was taken in 1982, eight years after we left the farm. The owner, a Detroit school teacher, had the windmill generator — visible if you look closely — installed. The 12-foot-diameter Lake Huron-Flint water line, which ran parallel to Metcalf Road, was laid in the late '60s and early '70s.
