This is part of the 280 acre farm purchased in 1884 by Michael Mayers, my husbands Great-Great grandfather. In 1896, Michael's son Frank acquired 160 acres of the original farm, and upon Michael's death in 1913, the remaining property went into probate and was eventually divided between two of Michael's sons Frank and Matthias. In 1914, Frank sold his portion to Matthias. In December of 1929, just before Matthias died, his son Ferdinand took over the farm. Ownership did not change again for 43 years when it was sold to Ferd's daughter Bernice and her husband Lester Zink. Lester and Bernice remained on the farm until 2003 when they sold it to my husband Matt. The current home on the farm was built in 1901 and is the last of the original buildings.
