I grew up here. Almost all buildings gone with new buildings. Garage near driveway and road is still there. A shed to the right of the barn on edge of photo was moved to between the gas tank and yard light and tractor. It is still there. House is now in area to the right of first garage in area that is cleared. House construction started shortly after this photo was taken.

Thank you for sharing your memories with us! It's fascinating how much can change over the years. As someone who grew up in the area, what are some of your favorite memories of Waseca County from around the time this photo was taken in 1969? We love hearing from people who have a personal connection to the places captured in our Vintage Aerial photos.

We could see three lakes from the hayloft of our barn: Lake Elysian to the far left (west), Reeds Lake to the far right (east) and Lake Lily (top of the photo, north), which the property had lakeshore on. Southern half of the house was log, with siding on the outside, plaster/lathe on the inside walls. No heat, running water, or electricity in that half. A wood stove or oil stove with chimney that brought ambient heat to the upstairs. Northern half of the house was added on later (1920s maybe). That part of the house had an indoor bathroom, electricity and forced air heat and running water. There were lots of outbuildings, sheds, granery, chicken house, barn, outhouse, corn cribs, a cattle pass that went under County Road 5 to reach the property on the south side of Co. Rd 5.
