This 37 acre farm belonged to the Walter and Jean Smith family in 1978. After his death, the house and buildings were torn down. It belongs to their grandson William.
Historically, in the mid 1800s, Reverend William Sigelin [sic] owned this property. He is credited with reuniting the Brick {Forney] Church and St. Paul's Lutheran [sometimes referred to as the Spite Church and/or Koch Church] which are both on Waterford Road, Unity Twp. after a long dispute. Some members split from the Brick Church and founded their own further east on land belonging to the Koch family. They also had an adjacent cemetery as did the Brick Church. I do have a picture of Koch Church if anyone is interested.
