First owner I know was John Perry Whiteman and Martha Petticord, my great, great grandparents. They lived there prior to 1880 thru 1917. The farm is located on the east side of County Road 9C north of the Liberty Chapel. There used to be a tile factory located behind and to the north of the farm. Where they dug out the dirt for the tile the hole filled with water. In the winter, ice was cut from the water and sold and stored in sawdust in families ice houses, for refrigeration in the warmer months. I'm told there still is a large hole area where they dug out the dirt for the tile.
