The grain elevator on 25-A, just north of Eldean Road, in Troy, Ohio...

My Dad George, worked there when it was Altmans Feed Mill. About 55 years ago. He was working there when it was discovered that Mr. Altman had hidden money, buried in milkcans on the property. If I'm not mistaken there was several hundred thousands of dollars.

My dad, Russell Lewis, also worked here in 1950. It is stated on my birth certificate as his employer. The family story is that he helped build a portion of it.

Dearl Gambill my father worked there in 1950s he fell off mixer in 57 or 58 he had 4 back operations and was hooked on pain pills died at 47

Troy Elevator-Mennel. Always called it Eldean because of location. Picking dad up or swapping drivers on the tractors or taking him something to eat. We used different elevators is the reason why we called it Eldean.

Grew up on nea

Grew up nearby on old pony farm. Always heard of milk cans full of money at Eldean grain elevators.
Rode bus to Elizabeth school. Went back. Now museum, and much smaller! Was the money ever found?

This newspaper article from 1963 tells the story of Mr Altman's buried cash. They dug up two 5-gallon milk cans with $350,000 and another milk can with an additional $150,000.

My dad (George Minnich) worked there as well at that time. My understanding was the family approached him whether he thought Mr Altman really had money buried. He told them if Mr. Altman says to dig you dig. My dad also told them he thought he knew where they should start as he never really wanted the workers around that area. Later My dad helped dig up the cans of money. I used to have a newspaper article showing my dad but unfortunately I can't find it.
