The Jr. O.U.A.M Hall. which stood for "Junior Order of United American Mechanics." Formed in 1853 to "..advocate for nativist policies and provided financial support for its members." Later, "The group offered a social membership and insurance membership. They later granted members health, death, and accident insurance during a time when that type of coverage was rare."

The second inscription on the building reads, "DOKOUT No 48."
