My grandparents Farm, before it was sold.

Hi Jody, thank you for sharing your comment about your grandparents' farm! We'd love to hear more about it. Can you tell us about your favorite memories from that time? Also, we're curious to know what type of farming your family did on the property. We hope this aerial photo brought back some cherished memories for you.

The farm was owned by my grandfather's family. It was much bigger when he was born and tge surrounding are over his acreage went to his family members. I can't remember the total acreage at the time of my life their but it was some where up around 300 acres. My grandparents had dairy cattle, pigs, chickens, and a bull. Later own it became a beef cattle farm. My grandparents worked endlessly from before dawn until 9pm at night. The farm was heated by coal until the eights when a gasoline went through the farm and he owned the mineral rights so there after the gas was free fir there use. My fondest memories and deepest regrets surround my grand mother and the home made bread, butter, jelly, pies, noodles and mashed potatoes. They are my regret because I was too interested in the animals and being with poppa in the barn and field to learn how my grandmother made everything so perfect. My grandmother washed everything by hand in a ringer washer eventhough she had a modern washer, she ironed everything, and I mean everything down to whitey tighties.. She will always be the strongest woman I have ever known, and my grandfather will forever be known as the loving man who loved us all, eventhough we were not by blood because they we married after the death of my biological grandfather when my father who was the elder child was a teenage This farm is now owned by the Amish, who have valued it as much as they did. I just wish that I would have been oldenough and would have been permitted to keep it in the family.
