I believe this to be the homestead of the first immigrant from my family, Johann Philip Schmeyer (1698-1751) that arrived from the Palatine region of Germany in 1733. He warranted 200 acres of land from the state of Pennsylvania called "Schmeyerhausen." The main house is thought to have been built in or around 1777 with an addition put on in 1835 and numerous other improvements and additions added over the years. Although the property no longer contains 200 acres there is a long and interesting history associated with the property including a farm implement dealership, a small air strip, and more. Anyone interested in more information about the family please don't hesitate to contact me: https://sites.google.com/view/schmeye...
This is the Schmierhausen, also called the Grandfather House. The oldest part was built in the 1770s, home of the oldest generation of Schmoyer farmers till the mid 1980s. I have owned it since 2000.
