On Thomas Road, now gone?

I think so

82 Thomas Road, Randy & Jill Metz. Current home is approximately where the left arrow is. When this was taken Herman Santee lived there. House was burned down in the early 1980s by the coal mine. Prior to the house in the picture, the McIlvane log cabin was in the light colored field. When cleaning up the old barn yard in 2018 I found the evenly spaced sandstone blocks that the house sat on. The out buildings in this picture were gone in 2018, but some of their contents were still there. I found a blacksmithed pitch fork and hinges. I found the metal remains of some wooden farm impliments in the woods in places.

Hi Randy,
Thank you for telling us the history of your property! Sounds like you could start a little museum with all your findings. What has been your favorite part of the property so far?

Hi Alexis, My family's farm isn't too far away, so I know a lot of the local history. I was glad to find the foundation stones from the original settlers. The warranty deed was issued from Virginia, as this area was disputed territory in the 1780s. Knowing those stone's history, who brought them there. This farm, as did the family farm have whiskey stills during the Whiskey Rebellion of 1794. I fly the Whiskey Rebellion flag out front. I hope this becomes an heirloom property!
