Warren and Marcy Haugens farm, S of Westby WI. When this pic was taken it was owned by Harold Hansen. My grandfather worked for Harold as a young boy. I hauled milk for Warren once in a while when I drove part time on the weekends. Got a call at the bank from the route owner asking me to come after work and held get his quad axle milk truck off of the house. Its hard to tell in this photo, but its a hill past house up to the barn. We used to back the truck in from the main road. In winter it was usually snow covered and slippery. One of the other drivers rolled the truck over, onto the house. No injuries, but truck was totaled, and Waren and Marcy were very startled.
Farm was owned by Harold A. and Gerda (Langhus) Hanson. They had no children. My dads (Mons) generation of cousins spent time on the farm when they were kids. My generation of cousins did the same. We would spend a week or two during the summer helping Harold and Gerda do chores. They also spent alot of time working with 4H.
Several buildings are gone and I also remember the truck crashing into the house. Harold and Getda were the leaders of the Seas Branch Smithies 4-H club. They were wonderful leaders and helped me get started raising and showing Register Guernsey Cattlef.
