Tekampe farm
Is there any way to order a print of this?
To answer some of your questions
This was my grandparents farm. Growing up, my older sisters and I would stay out there for a week or two. We’d also hold family gatherings there like holidays there.
From this picture it’s pre metal equipment shed. As of a few months ago, all the buildings no longer exist.
28655 N. Fremont Center Rd., looking SE. That's too bad to hear it was razed. Public record has a build date of 1863.
This farm property, originally purchased by Johan Tekampe is located the east side on N. Fremont Center Rd. near the N. Gilmer Rd. intersection and Rte. 176 in Fremont Township (south of the Fremont Middle School).
Brothers, Johan "John" Tekampe (1826-1895) and Wilhelm "William Tekampe (1836-1911), came from Bavaria (Germany) in the mid-1850s. They purchased farms adjoining each other, John to the south and William to the north on Fremont Center Rd. After the death of John, William purchased the property. William's two sons, John Michael Tekampe (1876-1943) farmed the south farm and Joseph Francis Tekampe (1878-1969) farmed the north farm.
