My parents, William and Beverley Chapman bought this farm in 1954 when my dad came home from Korea. 164 acres for $2500.00. My sister, Debi and I grew up here. My dad raised herefords in the pastures surrounding the farm. In the summer we spent every spare minute getting hay in for the cows winter feed. Hunting season was always a big deal when all my uncles would come stay on the weekends and go looking for the big ones. My parents sold the farm in 1971 for a whopping $15,000.00 and retained 60 acres of the original parcel. My parents moved onto this parcel and bought a mobile home to live in. My husband and I also had a mobile home on this land and a few years later when my husband and I moved away my sister and her family lived on that land. My sister and her husband then built a home on the land and my dad did too. He sold his trailer to my aunt Joyce and Uncle Rod. The big maple tree in the front yard is now gone. The rose bushes on the side lawn had the most fragrent smell and the white and lavender lilac bushes were so hardy. The playhouse to the right of the driveway was built for my sister and I by our grandfather Joseph Bilodeau. The story goes.... he build it on January 8th 1956 and it was so warm out he was in his shirt sleeves working outside. The fields in the background are now full of pine trees and there is no sign that some of the greatest hills for sledding were ever there. I remember the day this photo was taken and my dad wanted desperately to buy a framed print for our livingroom. Dad and mom are gone now but I'm buying it for my livingroom wall so he can look down and smile. I have many fond memories of this home and my young playmates in the neighborhood.

559 Kennebec River Rd, Embden. We purchased this house in 2017. My husband, Matthew and I live here with our two daughters.
