Here's a funny anecdote regarding the Otto's building. When the building was torn down in the mid-1990's to build a new shopping plaza, a portion of the northern wall (that is, the back wall) was left standing and incorporated into the new building. This was done to avoid rezoning. You see, at the time, as long as you left one wall standing, it was considered "remodeling".
