This is on Rt. 60 North on the west side just before the curve. My parents bought this 7 acre farm in the fall of 1970, The one room brick school house in the photo lower left was there then. The big white barn in the center with dark roof was not there then, just the foundation. The longer gambrel roofed barn burned down in July of 1977. We moved around 1979. The new owners then built a new house back aways behind the school house and later tore the school house down and split the property up. In Dec. of 2023 the lean to barn at a angle was getting in bad shape and tore down. The house in front that my Dad had blue aluminum siding put on is still there and so is the pole barn in back. Most of the trees are now gone. I had alot of good memories living there!
Thank you for all the information about this property. In the 70's what type of farm was this?
Nathan, When my parents bought this property it was only a 7 acre parcel. The previous owners i believe had bought it off the farmer who owned the adjoining land to the north wich was about 50 plus acres. The farmer still farmed that adjoining property while we lived there rotating crops such as corn, soy beans and wheat. There are 2 homes on that north property now to the back. The property to the south was all cow pasture up to the dairy farm down to the south. On that property now there are about 4-5 homes built across it. The 7 acre property that my parents owned we just had various farm animals such as a horse, ponies, pigs, sheep and chickens and we had a large garden during the 9 years or so we lived there.
