I own this property now. The pond dam has been breached so there is no water. The cabin and shed are gone. The power poles have been removed. The trees have overtaken much of the area.
Thank you for sharing your updated knowledge of the land, Laverne. It's fascinating to hear about the changes that have occurred since the time the photo was taken. Do you happen to know who may have lived at the property when this picture was taken? Did you make any of those changes to the property?
We bought the property from Jim and Lesa Gardner who live in Wichita, KS. Jim's dad and mother had a cabin next to the pond. We believe that several RVs were used before the cabin was built. The RVs were still on the property in the hedge row when we purchased. Jim's dad was a builder in Wichita and some of the left over building materials ended up on this property. Most of it has been cleaned up and disposed of in the landfill. The dam had 5' spillway tubes when it was built and had about a 700 acre watershed. Two years later a new dam got built 1/4 mile north and reduced the watershed to about 80 acres. About 25 years ago the muskrats got under the spillway and eventually it eroded and does not hold water.
