My grandparents' farm, where my mother grew up. So happy to find this!! This photo was taken the year my husband and I were married. Both of them were still living there at this time and it's heartwarming to see their garden is planted--that was such a big part of their lives. Grandpa passed away about 7 years after this was taken, still at the farm doing what he loved. Grandma moved to town. The new owners restored the big red barn, but sadly, the farmhouse was burned down (I believe in the early 2000s) to make way for a new house. The pasture and buildings in the foreground, as well as the ground surrounding the house, belonged to them. As a child, I used to walk over to see baby calves in the little building on the left. So many happy memories here. One look and it all came rushing back. They truly had the gingerbread on the house and the white picket fence...and weathered the Great Depression on this farm. I believe they moved to this farm in the mid 1930's, when my mother was a very little girl.
