Portland elevator as seen from the southwest angle.

I worked this elevator during wheat harvest 1977 and 1978. You can tell it’s a very small, one-leg elevator so we basically lifted the wheat from the pit up and directly out onto the waiting semi for transport to New Era Milling Co in Arkansas City, KS. We only filled the small bins when semis were running behind, and sometimes had to wait to unload farm trucks because we were full. Great memories! Great Sumner County farmers!
