I'm not positive but this appears to be the old Pilot Grove Grocery Store and gas station at 112 Chestnut Road in Whitewright, Texas. Can anyone confirm this or can anyone confirm that the Pilot Grove grocery store was in fact an Arco station?

In fact, I can't find anything in this photo that doesn't look right for 1984 from what I know about it. I bought this place in February of 2014 and there is indeed a small concrete pedestal with abandoned electrical wiring exactly where that Arco sign stands. The building looks right from end to end for that time period, including the seam directly in the middle of the house where the two halves were joined together when it was relocated from Perrin field around 1940. I was told that it used to be either an old army barracks or orderly house and that after it was relocated, it served as the Pilot Grove grocery store for almost fifty years right up into the late eighties. All of the trees look right for that time period and so do the driveways and roads, both front and back.

Also found a shot of the place here in 1992 on film roll number 58, photo number HGR-32.

We're looking at the south side of the house and the camera is facing north-northwest.

The mobile home in the back ground is sitting in the middle of what is now my neighbor's driveway and it appears to be the same one in the next photo on this roll, (photo #21). In the background of that photo appears to be my other neighbor's house just to the west of me, which can be seen in photo number 22. The biggest surprise was an unknown driveway at the far southwest corner of my property and it can be seen in photo number 22.

Apparently my realtor was mistaken when he told me that this was a grocery store for almost 50 years. I recently found some aerial photographs of the place dated 1959 and 1964 over at HistoricAerials.com and there's no trace of the house. It was probably built in 1940 and then moved from Perrin field in the mid-to-late sixties.
