This was the center of commerce in Decker Prairie Texas in the late 1970's and early 1980's where Hardin Store Rd. on right met up with FM 149. Now Morris and 249. Everything you see is now the highway. The small building on the RH was the Firehouse Bar & Grille, the closest current landmark is American Fireworks. The Decker Center is still there behind the pic. Hughes Kountry Place was the closest store for many miles. In 1983 Hurricane Alicia put the entire community out of power and Mr. Hughes had a generator and plenty of fuel at those pumps. He had a deep well and allowed anyone who needed to come to his faucets and fill up jugs for water to drink, cook, and bathe. He was a good man.
