Dad's heated concrete is no longer there for the hogs. The corn crib that Uncle Augie said he filled upstairs, and Ben had to climb up there to make sure he really did...(he often commented on that going by), is now half fallen down. In the past year, the house that Tom and Judy Keller lived in, in their 20's, has fallen. early 1960's There is a cute house towards the front that Erd's live in for many years, with a happy dog that visited us a few times. Once two of their horses visited us as well! 8-)... Ben was cool....he would bring us apples. Dad bought his old red truck (no photos unfortunately) and drove it to work. Ben had a large collection of books. He married Ruby Ellithorpe, who we were very fond of. Uncle Augie and John A. Gorenz, Dekalb, assembled the concrete electricity (Uncle Augie/Gus was in WWII and before he and Uncle Frank went to the Philippines, he studied electricity and radar in Kentucky. Our uncles were able to meet in the Philippines. Uncle Augie said the Jap prisoners were very friendly and congenial. Ben came over once and he was clearly very upset because the neighbor lady east of Ellithorpe Road, on Chapman road, climbed to the top of his silo, and placed a pumpkin? She also was known to ride down the road on her bike with a utensil holding up a piece of toast. She told our Mom, "I love funerals, I call them '_FUN_ er alls"....(well she had a good point, sometimes the only time you see relatives or friends is at a celebration of life, funeral). I think of her then.

Klock Farm, Harry and Amelia Dumoulin Klock raised their 5 sons and daughter here. Babies were born in the house at left, with no water or electricity. Later an uncle brought Windmill electricity to the 1940's built house (The longtime Mayor of Sycamore, HAROLD `RED` JOHNSON, told me that he helped build that house). The Klock daughter, ("a watch among the 5 pendulums"), was a sophomore in high school when they moved in, HHS Class of '42. She was born in the old house April 1925. Most of the grape vines are gone, to the right of the old house. The 40 x 60' barn roof has collapsed from wind, 2021. The class of 42' portrait hangs at nearby Chick N Dip restaurant.
