This northeast quadrant of the Twelvemile Corner was the site of the Mobil Gas station, a restaurant, and motel at the crossroads of US 51 & US 30. As a kid, seeing the huge Flying Red Horse sign was always a thrill for me. "The Corner" (all quadrants) was a gathering place for the area.

This is where I grew up, and I now own it. Just south of Rochelle in middle of "S" curve of what then was US 51 (now 251). The airport, including plowed fields, abut our property. To the right is south end of a T-hangar where the crop-duster Stearmans were kept. Lots of history here.

This is location of original airport, adjacent to our property, at Rochelle. These buildings replaced the large airport hangar/shop and attached home/business burned about 1958. Lots of fond memories playing with my best friend who lived in the house. By this time, a new airport building & hangars were built to the west on same property.

This farm on US 51 (now 251), now gone, was adjacent to north side of airport at Rochelle.
