This Farmstead was the location of the first Jepsons who migrated from Denmark in 1882 to settle in Sullivan County. Knud and Andrea Jepson gave birth to the first of their 8 children on their trip across the Atlantic Ocean. They lived on this farm for the remainder of their lives. Unfortunately, this farm, though bordering descendants' land, no longer is owned by any relatives from the Knud and Andrea Jepson family. The original barn built in the 1910s in still standing under the more modern expansions shown in this photo. To date, 2021, the barn is falling in and no longer salvageable.

This is the original residence of the Rueben Jepson prior to 1920 census and is the birthplace of all 5 of his sons. This house is now abandoned and unsafe to live in, but was home to his youngest son Don Jepson who raised 2 sons with his wife Lucille when this photo was taken. It was then Reuben's grandson Gary Jepson to live here as a young adult. The last family to live in this house was Gary and Linda Jepson with their 2 children until they built a new house when their youngest was one month old. Living conditions in the old 1920s home was not suitable or environmentally safe for living in it anymore in the early 2000s.

I lived here as a small child from 1974 until 1982 or 1983. This house was built in the 1800s and is now a skeleton of what was one a beautiful Victorian home.
