Just off the photo to the left was a hen house and small cow barn. Two of my favorite activities were helping my opa milk the cows and also gathering eggs. The small building poking out from behind the house was where they would separate the cream from the milk and did any other prep needed for farm goods before they went to the kitchen. My oma also made and stored soap there. After my oma and opa passed away my mom and dad took over taking care of the place. We lived in town (Fredericksburg) so everyday after school I would drive with them out to this property (14 miles) and we would take care of the cattle, sheep and goats then we'd get back home around 8pm and I would eat and do my homework. The big difference in this photo from today is many of these oaks have been destroyed by oak wilt. It has been very bad in this area.

This is the old Pecan Creek School. My mother went to school here when it was still active.

This is my mom and dads place. They built it just after I graduated High School. I currently own this property with my brother and sister. My sister and her husband raise Angora goats and Angus cattle on the property now. Unfortunately, oak wilt has taken out many of the trees in this area.
