This home is the first modern ranch style home built on what would later become "Rolling Hills Estates, just off of Golson Road in the outskirts of Prattville. The house faces the woods at a NNW orientation. The rear of the house seen here, with the front facing the old dirt road. All newer houses face Rolling Hills Drive to the south, so the house sits in backward orientation to the neighboring homes. That road was extended further, in the 1960's, where several Chicken Houses were built to the east. The story I heard from a local elder, is that the lake was built for the man's wife, who was from the low country Chesapeake Bay area of Virginia. She missed being near the water, so it was built to make her feel at home.
