Old Sundstrand Company
My father worked in that factory - he was an engineer who worked on the second floor of the front office building of the plant. He worked there from 1966 - 1973 I believe. The Sundstrand annual picnic was held on the grounds every summer. The factory no longer exists from what I’ve been told.
Sundstrand's machine tool division moved into this new plant in 1954. The Belvidere Daily Republican reported official groundbreaking on May 21, 1954. Business was good, apparently, as the company announced a plant expansion in October 1955.
