A family named Steele lived on the property to the east where the grain elevator is. The Grandfather and Grandmother of my wife to be (Marlene Louise Vickrey) lived in this home. Their names were John and Elizabeth (Morel) Vickrey. Elizabeth met John who lived on a farm across the field. They married and lived in this home. Elizabeth was born in this house and lived there for 80+ years before having to move to an apartment after John passed away. They were regular attendees of the Kasbeer church. John and Elizabeth had 3 children. Donald (my wife's father), Jack and Beverly. Beverly passed away from cancer when she and her husband had 2 young children. The two sons, Craig and Terry are the only ones still alive.
John worked for the railroad which was between the front of the house and the road. After retiring, he repaired lawn mowers.
