This farm belonged to Homer Kraus and is located just west of New Memphis, IL. During the summer of 1988, I helped my brother salvage much of the lumber from the large barn featured in the photo. He hauled the lumber to Florida and used it in the construction of part of his home. Homer told us the barn had been built 101 years before and three men erected it for around $100. Unfortunately, the north end of the barn wall had been undermined by ground hogs and had become unstable. My brother was looking for old barn lumber and Homer wanted it taken down. A win-win. I gave my brother the print as a momento of that project.
