Farm on College of Dupage property. Only driveway entrance still exists as of 10/11/2020
Was my Grandparents, Oscar and Estella (Barkei) Lambert.
Farm was auctioned off in 1967 and others sold it to COD. Lambert Rd. is named after my great grandparents that farmed what is now Village Links.
2S210 Park Blvd
Hi Brian,
Thank you for the history of the property! Do you have any memories from the house before it was auctioned?
Unfortunately I was 5. So only a couple of memories.
I know that my grandfather raised pigs, dairy
and crops with Case VAC, SC, CC, & DC tractors, also had a Forsdson and a Case cross motor. but originally farmed with horses in the 20’s-30’s.
The house was a Sears kit that came into town on a train car,
their barn was added onto by purchasing one from another farm on Park Blvd. and transporting it to their farm..
My grandmother was a Barkei that grew up at the northwest corner on a farm at Warrenville & Naperville roads (currently Alcatel?)
Hi Brian. I visited Estelle & Oscar I'm almost sure. My mom was Marilyn Barkei. Grew up on their farm at Warrenville & Naperville rd (lucent). I think Estelle was my mom's Aunt. I grew up knowing we were related to the Lamberts.

I was probably about 5 as well. 52yrs old
This was my grandparents farm on moms (Laurita Lambert) side.
Cousin Brian forgot they also raised chickens. I got in trouble 1 time for leaving the door open and tons of chickens got out. Took forever to catch em all. Used big fish nets on them.
The house was cozy, narrow stairs to the 2nd floor, 4 footed iron tub up there, nice old enclosed deck, basement toilet had a overhead tank n pull cord.
Cold water from well out front with hand pump was always nice.
I recall shucking corn by the silo w gramps for pop corn, grandma showed us how to check eggs under a light.
Walked corn fields pheasant hunting with Gramps, Dad, oldest brother Daniel once when I was 7 or so, barns were dark then as gramp was past raising pigs im the mid 60s. I recall the long leather machinery belts smell still.
I loved the collie, then a german shepard after that.
Recall catching those light bugs when around with cousins, brothers. Many times when pops took us there to visit the cousins were there when uncles would stop by as well.
Jumped off hay stacks in the barn to the soft laying hay below us a time or 2.
Ive not been out there since it was sold, but have many Lambert farm visit memories.
Lots of great memories visiting as a kid. Dad and mom ( Norm and Laurinda) would load all of us kids into a station wagon and drive us all the way from California every September to visit the relatives in Illinois and Wisconsin. Great adventures for us kids! I remember the dogs together. The Shepard was the outside dog and the Collie the inside dog. As a small boy the Shepard was intimidating, but not as scary as the aggressive free roaming geese.
