This is the Crane Brown House, on of the oldest standing buildings in DuPage County, and its farm. The little house was built in 1837 by James and Annie Crane Brown, pioneers from upstate New York. It was built in the Federal style, and the bricks were constructed from on-site clay. The house is located on Eola Road just south of the Big Woods Church. Only the house and the small metal shed have survived, the barnyard and silos were torn down and replaced by prairie reclaimation. The farmland is a part of the Big Woods Forest Preserve now.
