Fairbank farm on the corner of Butterfield and Eola. The only three structures that are still standing are the two barns, both probably used for storage, and the little water tower behind the house. The house was destroyed by arsonists in 1968.
This property was purchased by the State of Illinois for the Fermilab project in the 1960s. It is listed as Site #3 (Fairbanks Farm) in the Fermilab archives. Read more here:
