Pin location: 127 US-40, Brownstown, IL 62418. The brick home seen at lower left is still standing but it does not appear to be occupied according to the May 2024 Street View image. This structure is likely historically significant due to its location along the National Road (also known as the Cumberland Road). The farm seen at center-right is now abandoned. In fact, the road seen trailing off to the east from US 40 is no longer connected to the highway. Perhaps the bridge seen at upper left was too costly to replace and the road was simply abandoned.
