This is the former Pleasant View School at the northeast corner of section 36 of Wall Township. Current address is 699 N 1700E Rd, Paxton, IL 60957.
Pleasant View operated much longer than most country schools. After the Paxton Community Unit Schools began operation in 1949, most of the one-roomers were disposed of. But this one, along with the Moffett School, were kept for baby boomer overflow. In 1959, Pleasant View was put back in service when Paxton elementary schools reached an all-time record enrollment. The Paxton Record newspaper ran an article on both Pleasant View and Moffett on November 19, 1959 (page 13) with photographs of both schools.
In 1961, an addition was built on one of the Paxton elementary schools, and the 52 students attending Pleasant View and Moffett were moved into town in December. Pleasant View students transferred to the West Lawn elementary.
