This is our family homestead. It's been in the Howerter family since 1888 when J.P. Howerter and his wife first purchased it. My husband and I currently live here. He grew up here. I actually collected all the necessary documents to have it designated as a centennial farm with the state of Illinois. We have a very large print of this very picture hanging in our home. The original farmhouse sadly burnt down many years ago, but a new smaller house was built on the property in 2013.
