Cloonlara farm, purchased by the Hughes family in 1964. James and Dorothy Hughes met at De Paul University law school and were attorneys by trade, although Dorothy quit practicing when they started their family. In a Chicago Tribune interview published on May 26, 1968, she emphatically stated that she loved law, but loved their 800-acre farm more. They grew corn, wheat and soybeans and raised cattle. The sign on the main barn is a list of all previous owners of the farm, and the dates of ownership.

James Hughes became a significant real estate developer in the Chicagoland area, but he and Dorothy always loved the farm first.

Can I possibly pay for a high resolution version of this photo? We live here and I’d love to print it for our home.
