45W032 Rowe Road. This was formerly the Mud Island School, one of many one-room schoolhouses in Kane County. The school operated into the 1940s. The March 18, 1958 edition of the Dekalb Daily Chronicle reported that Mr. and Mrs. Grover Petrie purchased the school in 1948 and remodeled it into a residence. In September 1944, the Daily Chronicle reported that Mud Island had 5 pupils for the 1944-45 school year, taught by Phyllis Haag of Aurora.
