My great grandfather built this house and my grandfather moved here as a boy. He remembers getting up early in the winter, in the dark and walking with cattle from southwest of Kankakee to the farm. My father lived in this house as a child. When I was very young my grandparents lived in the first floor and my aunt and uncle and cousins live on the top floor. The house if beautiful inside. The large window you can see on the second floor was my father's bedroom, with his two brothers. He remembers that during WW II, something blew up at the munitions plant in Joliet and those windows rattled. Everyone thought that the munitions plant had been bombed. My grandparents moved out when I was about 6 or 7 and my aunt and uncle and cousins lived here. The trailers are gone and the family no longer owns the house but the farm is still in the family. (over 100 years in the same family) My aunt and uncle are gone and the cousins are out of the area. They sold the house about 5 or 6 years ago.
