I grew up here; it was my home from 1964 - summer of 1972. This home, with the present-day address of 1858 Illinois 50 (originally RR1 Box 54) was built in 1949 by my father Harry Hoffman and his family (his parents and his brothers). My Grandfather dug the foundation by hand. It was our family home from 1949 until 1972. The adjoining subdivision property was owned (and developed) by my uncle, Alex Hoffman and his wife Virginia. Today (2015) this house looks entirely different as it was converted to a commercial property many years ago, and built onto with a large warehouse addition to the south of the original structure which takes up all of the pretty yard space that is seen on the right side of the photo. We visited the entire property two years ago, inside and out. The inside is no longer a house, but rather office/warehouse space. The garage in the back is still standing, virtually unchanged from this photo.
