This property was used as a riding stable in the 1970's. Located across the street from the corner of Deep Lake Road and Route 132, Lake Villa, IL. I believe it was affiliated with George O'Day's old Circle D stable located just east at the corner of Munn Road and Route 132 (and with another location north on Deep Lake Road). Living at the property next door, I had the opportunity to see the inside of this lovely old barn. Sturdy built, wonderful design. I'm glad we had moved away long before it was torn down. The property is covered with commercial buildings now.

It’s where the current Lake Villa library is located on Grand Avenue .

I bought and boarded my horse at this farm. I had the best times of my life there. I was heartbroken when it was torn down

Boarded our horses there. Used to be a livery stable. Was very sad to see it demolished. Was a beautiful barn. And the property was gorgeous! So many fun times there! Made lots of great friends too, we were just like family. Such good memories made there.

The riding stable was Wagon Wheel. Owned by Wayne and Gail Mayfield. I grew up there.

Most of the best memories, and cherished loves of my life happened at this wonderful place..i came upon the barn smoldering after a fire..breaks my heart to the day.

Hi Marko, thank you for sharing your memories of this special place! We'd love to hear more about the barn and your experiences growing up in Lake County. Can you tell us what type of farming was done on the property or any other details you remember from that time?
