Amboy High School on East Hawley Street ,Amboy Illinois

I lived in the house that's just out of sight (top right corner) Corner of NE Avenue and Bacon. This is when Bacon didn't go all the way through. The high school now has an addition. In the top left corner is the back side of the central school. The brick building attached to the school is no longer there. My grandmothers house is also in the top right corner. The railroad tracks are now gone. The "Pickle Factory" is used as storage for the school. I walked across the field to the school every day for 4 years. The field now holds the football field. 2023

Hi there! Thanks for sharing your memories of Lee County in 1971. It sounds like a lot has changed since then! We're curious to learn more about the area. Did you grow up in Lee County? Also, since you mentioned a "Pickle Factory," were pickles a popular local product back then? We love hearing stories about how communities evolve over time. Let us know if there's anything specific you'd like to know about that era.

I did grow up right in the upper right hand corner. The Pickle Factory was before my time, but my parents both remembered them making pickles in that building. I would like to see some pictures of the town, not just the "important" buildings. I enjoy this site.

Our garden is right where the "G" is at in Vintage.
