Located directly across North Street, from Warrensburg-Latham High School, is this small building and parking lot. Address is approximately 420 West North Street. The Canadian National-Illinois Central is seen in the background. Warrensburg, Illinois. While the building is gone, the parking lot remains.
Former "Lehn's Cafe", owned and operated by John P. Lehn, Jr., and his wife Katheryn. Grand opening on Saturday, October 26, 1957. Across street from "new high school", on the blacktop road. Steaks, chicken, shrimp dinners. Short orders. Plate lunches daily. Open 6 am-10 pm. Popular lunch spot, and after basketball games for Warrensburg-Latham students. Jukebox played latest records. Sold snacks, candy, bubble gum to students before, during, and after school. Hamburgers, fries, and chili most popular choices for students during lunch. Closed in 1974, after 17 years.
W-L school board purchased vacant cafe from John P. Lehn, Jr. for $20,000 in summer 1975.
It was then converted to W-L school district offices, and superintendent office.
It was torn down and replaced with new facility.
