Macoupin Station, Shipman Blacktop btwn near Beaver Dam State Park
My UncleΓ’Βs store. Grew up 2 miles from it.When I was a little girl it was a grocery store. Nelson and Dorothy Still owned it and lived upstairs. They had a son named Paul last I heard from him he was in Florida. My Uncle would Drive to St.Louis to Soulard Market to get his fresh produce on ThursdayΓ’Βs and I got to tag along with him. He always had the best fruits and vegetables around. His cheese and lunch meat was very good also. My mom didnΓ’Βt buy it for us very offen but Uncle Bubby would give me a piece of cheese and meat when we would go and hang out with him. He had a red hot machine that took pennies and he would throw pennies on the floor for us to fined and put in the red hot machine. Down the road and across the tracks lived an old man that lived in a shack. He was always broke, but Uncle Bubby fed him. We didnΓ’Βt know his name, so we just called him the old bum.
