Heinold Hog Market, Girard, IL

We actually purchased this property last year, I would love to hear more about the history of it

Nick, Heinold Hog Markets was at one time the world's largest "non- packer" buyer of hogs. Heinold at one time had over 150 buying stations much like this one in many midwestern states. This location opened on July 10, 1961. Market managers at Girard included Ken Huber (1961- 1969), Don "Sonny" Butler (1969-1973), Ken Butler (1973-1990), and Scott Lindquist (1992-1993). In 1993, Heinold was sold to IBP, who in turn would sell to Tyson foods some years later.
